there's a lower-audio-quality (128k) video stream of this mix at http://youtu.be/ziHhlCQ3itE . but you can only download the entire 320k .mp3 here.
2010's MFU was a bacchanalian orgy. (the proof is on my soundcloud.) 10 hours, 160 tracks. i liked everything i played in those mixes, of course, but i didn't LOVE enough of it. it was too much of a good thing and not enough of a GREAT thing.
by design, MFU 2011 is quite different. i spent weeks with the "finalists" and whittled my way down to about 80 or 90 true gems. the 2011 mix series (this is 1 mix of 3) is packed to the brim with future classics... the kind of tracks I can see myself playing months, perhaps years from now. maybe even a decade later.
thanks to all that vetting time, i got to know these songs REALLY well. consequently, every track is chock-full of live re-edits, lots of strategic EQ kills and some awesome tempo rides.
with the exception of editing two brief mistakes totaling all of 2.5 seconds, everything you hear was done live in one take (no pre-editing, no post-peformance overdubs), as you can see in the video.
